1. Black & Blue Burger at Beach Front Grille
Food is better when we eat together. Grab the fam, the squad, bae or bestie and head over to Flagler Beach’s neighborhood bar and grill to make some memories. With a bar facing the beach, Beach Front Grille's “good food, good drinks, good times” mantra means memories in the making via people watching, maybe some live music and always a menu full of hearty options you can’t go wrong with, including salads, savory dishes, sweets, seafood and, of course, burgers. For love at first bite, order the Black & Blue burger, a delicious blackened burger covered in Swiss cheese, Applewood smoked bacon and melted blue cheese crumbles—because cheese makes everything better.
2. Prime Time Burger at Turtle Shack Cafe
You’re on beach time, so no matter what time of day it is, take your palate to Turtle Shack Cafe to savor the Time Burger. A “small place with a big reputation,” the family-run burger, sandwich and seafood paradise has great views and stellar service with a bevy of palatable burger options. Go pinkies out with the primo Prime Time burger, a gourmet burger stacked with shaved prime rib and your choice of cheese. Go “Skinny” with 6 ounces of juicy beef, or grab the “Regular” for 12 ounces. Each comes with an included side (pineapple poppyseed coleslaw, anyone? Or the OG seasoned fries?). And if you want to go Prime Time without the gourmet red meat, sub a veggie patty for the 6-ounce price or an organic chicken breast for the 12-ounce price.
3. Waffle Burger at Tortugas' Florida Kitchen & Bar
Got (waffle) buns? Tortugas does, with a side of lively atmosphere, primo patio and can’t-miss beach views. Blending your breakfast and “linner” (aka lunch/dinner) dreams against beautiful ocean views—with style points for uniqueness—is Tortugas’ Waffle Burger. The can’t-miss burger includes a half-pound of custom blended beef, Monterey pepper jack cheese and Applewood smoked bacon between two fluffy Belgian waffles. Prefer a golden brioche bun instead? Go big with the Bimini Burger, a likewise half-pound of custom-blended beef seasoned and topped with an island glaze, grilled pineapple ring, Monterey Jack cheese and fried onion straws. Either way, it’s good mood food that will answer your flame-grilled fantasies. And if you’re really hungry, The Big Kahuna delivers with a pound of signature blended beef smothered in American cheese and Applewood smoked bacon on its golden brioche bun that’s held together with a steak knife. You’re welcome.
4. UFO Burger at Whaam! Burger
One of Flagler Beach’s newest buzzworthy spots, Whaam! Burger, is a retro-style eatery. You can go BOD (that’s Burger of the Day) or you can take it out of this world (get it?) with the UFO, a double cheeseburger sealed in a UFO bun with cheese or cheese and bacon. The roadside restaurant’s “flying saucer” of a sammy promises to rocket to the top of your best burger list—and with ocean views to boot. Don’t forget to grab some famed Whaam fries that come complete with a double beef patty, American cheese, grilled onions and Whaam sauce. Or try the signature Tachos with double beef patty, onions, jalapeno peppers, Whaam Wiz and Unicorn Dust. It’s all otherworldly, indeed!
6. Fungus Amongus at The Brown Dog
There’s a Fungus Amongus—and you will want to eat it. No, like, for real. Brown Dog’s Fungus Amongus burger is the cleverly dubbed garlic Parmesan grilled half-pound burger topped with garlic butter grilled mushrooms, provolone and Parmesan cheeses, housemade garlic aioli and bacon on a toasted croissant served with seasoned fries. Or you can upgrade to selected apps (think sweet corn nuggets, housemade hummus, hand-cut onion rings, fried avocado and more). And with The Brown Dog’s 16 rotating taps focused on Florida brews, you can kick back and “Sit, Stay, Drink” a bit.
7. Bruschette Burger at Highjackers
“Changes in latitude, changes in attitude” abound at Highjackers, a decorated restaurant with a splash of aviation history, where “flavor takes flight” with options from “Taxi Out” (apps) to “First Class” (think mahi mahi and more). But “Coach” is where comfort food is an order. Order the Bruschette Burger topped with provolone cheese and bruschetta, and served on Cuban bread. If you’re feeling creative, create your own burger with mango or jalapeno. How’s that for sweet and spicy?
