Hike the Hammock!
Participants will join a ranger through one of Florida’s breathtaking ecosystems while learning interesting facts about the hammock, native plants, animals, the ecosystem and the history of the Joe Kenner Trail. The hike will last approximately one hour and will begin at the trailhead located on the Intracoastal Waterway side of the park. The hike will follow the trail through the hammock and other parts of the park, ending at the lagoon for questions. Program is limited to the first twenty participants.
All ages are welcome and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Leashed pets are not allowed on the nature trail during the hike. Sturdy shoes and long pants, sunscreen, insect repellant and drinking water are recommended. Participants should take caution around roots, rocks and low branches, and soft sand which are abundant on the trail and beach. Special accommodations are available upon request prior to the event. The cost of each event is included in the regular park entrance fee of $5.00 per carload of two to eight people, $4.00 for one person in a car and $2.00 per pedestrian or bicyclist.
